Allen's new calling

Allen and I were called in to speak with the Stake president last week. We had a bet going as to what calling he was going to get. These are some of them:
-Stake Young Men's President
-Stake sports director
-Something to do with the singles ward
-Stake snow removal guy
-Stake Relief Society Presidency (Bret suggested this one, along with snow removal guy. They thought the Relief Society sisters could use some help with their center pieces and stuff)
What he was actually called as was the Stake Young Men's secretary. He is very excited. He will be assigned to two wards in the Stake and will be invited to attend their activities and presidency meetings and classes. There are a lot of other things he will be over but he is really excited. He loves serving in Young Men.

Utah Half Ironman

Today was the Utah Half Ironman. Allen and I were planning on being out of town on a ski trip with the Priests but their plans were changed at the last minute so I was able to go and volunteer. It was a great event.

Natalie coming across the finish line (This was Natalie's first Half)
Tacoy crossing the finish line
Mike crossing the finish line
Natalie took third in her age group
Moneka and I volunteered and were able to be on the kayaks in the swim. I was able to help a guy who was having a leg cramp and couldn't swim. After that we were put out on the "hot" corner where we had cross traffic from the Ulcer bike ride, boats coming and going from the lake, and then the bikers and runners from the Half Ironman crossing all at the same place. It was a lot of fun to help out.

ULTOT 2008

ULTOT is an event that the Timp Tri Club started last year. It stand for Utah Lake Top Of Timp. We met at Utah lake (4,500 ft elevation) at 5:30 a.m., swam a mile, jumped on our bikes and biked to the Timpooneke camp ground (about a 17 miles up, up, up to 7,200 ft elevation), and then hiked/ran 7.2 miles to the top to Timpanogos (11,750 ft elevation). So if you look at the picture, we started in the water and ended on the tipy top of the mountain behind it, for a total elevation gain of 7,250 ft! Ouch!
I did the swim and the bike and part of the hike. My stomach started to hurt pretty bad so I decided to turn back instead of pushing it. I did it last year and it was amazing. I was bummed that I got sick. There were 21 people that did it. Not all went to the top but they all participated in the event. Allen, being the president organized everything and supervised the event. He was willing to stay at the trail head and watch all of the bikes to make sure no one took off with them. Some of them were about $3,500.00+ bikes. He's a great president! Everyone loves him.

Don't believe what they say

We took Cameron & Jake Morgan (Karra's boys) out on the lake along with our friends the Wildes. Despite what they (Cameron & Jake) may say, we had a great time tonight. Just take a look at their faces in some of these pictures, there's no denying it.
